Inspiration

Here is the October horror movie list of one Patrick Klepek, the guy who inspired Chase, who inspired me.  This guy's list has some excellent movies, one or two I've not heard of, some that aren't out yet, and loads of wonderful youtube trailers.  Check it out.

October Horror Movie Challenge

With the nights getting dark earlier, Halloween lurking at the end of the calendar page, and the ramping up of cold and flu season, October has come to be seen by many as the "month of horror."  And nothing says "horror" like Horror (the movie genre).  And nothing says "month" like the number 31.  Which is 13 backwards. Spooky. Scary.

Therefore, this October 1 will mark the beginning of the first (annual?) October Horror Movie Challenge.  I (along with my buddy Chase whose idea this was) will watch 31 horror movies over the 31 days of October and will describe the experience here on this blog.  (Chase will be watching his own list of movies, but we will hopefully tackle a few together.)

Challenges I face may include:
  • Sleep deprivation
  • Movie make-up days (multiple movies in one go to make up for days I was unable to watch one)
  • A noisy cat
  • Lack of productivity at work
  • The ongoing worldwide popcorn shortage
  • Internet outages (particularly affecting the Netflix Instant Queue)
  • A loving, patient, and supportive wife who does not like horror movies and who may give birth to our first child somewhere in the midst of this nonsense
  • Muscle atrophy
Check back here throughout October for movie reviews and other observations as I journey through horror movies familiar and obscure, new and old, good and bad, scary and lame.  And hey, feel free to play along at home!

Coming soon to Hippsology

Hey y'all. Be on the lookout for some new posts on Hippsology, including the October Horror Movie Challenge, a look at the timeline of the NBA lockout, Hippsology Poetry Corner (an ongoing regular feature), and if things go as planned, an EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK at the newly expanded Harry Potter books that will come along with October's release of the Pottermore online experience. You won't see this anywhere else, folks.

Go Braves. Oh no, Braves.

So the Braves just completed a collapse for the ages, going from 8.5 games up in the wild card race to losing said race in extra innings of the 162nd game of the season. At least now we Braves fans can get back to doing what we do best - concentrating on football. See you next Spring, Bravos.
